Terms of Service

How this website works, what our lessons include, and the limits of both.

Last updated August 3, 2026

Who we are

Life Safety Driving School is a driving school licensed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, operating from 2082 Newbury Rd, Ste 15, Newbury Park, CA 91320 and teaching across Ventura County and nearby Los Angeles County communities. California driving schools are regulated under the California Vehicle Code sections 11100 through 11114 and Title 13 of the California Code of Regulations.

These terms cover your use of this website. They are not your lesson agreement. Behind-the-wheel training is arranged directly with us by phone, and the terms of that training, including schedule, price and cancellation, are agreed at the time of booking.

What this website is

This site describes the training we offer and how to reach us. It does not take bookings, collect payment, or host an account system. There is no form on this website. Everything starts with a phone call or an email.

We keep the site accurate as best we can, but DMV requirements, federal training rules and our own prices change. Nothing here is a binding offer, and you should confirm anything that matters with us directly before you rely on it.

Online courses are sold by someone else, and we are paid a commission

The online driver education and CDL theory courses listed on this site are not ours. They are delivered by GetDriversEd, who is the training provider of record for those courses and who handles enrollment, payment, delivery, completion certificates and support.

When you follow an enrollment link from this site, you leave our site and buy from that provider under their terms and their privacy policy. We may receive a referral commission on that purchase. That commission does not change the price you pay.

We disclose this because the Federal Trade Commission requires a material connection like this to be made clear, and because you should know it when weighing a recommendation.

Commercial licenses: theory only

The CDL courses listed here cover the theory portion of federal Entry-Level Driver Training. They do not include behind-the-wheel instruction, and completing theory alone will not get you licensed.

Life Safety Driving School is not listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry and does not provide CDL behind-the-wheel training. You will need that portion from a separate provider that is listed on the registry. You can check any provider's listing at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov before you buy.

Lessons, scheduling and cancellation

Lesson terms are set when you book. In general: you pay per lesson rather than for a whole package in advance, a student must hold a valid California instruction permit before the first behind-the-wheel lesson, and the permit must be present at the lesson.

Please give us as much notice as you can if you need to move or cancel a lesson, so the slot can go to another student. If a student is not present, not ready, or does not have the required permit at the scheduled time, the lesson may count as taken.

Your three-day right to cancel

If you sign up for lessons anywhere other than our office, whether at your home, at a school, or at any other location we come to, California law gives you a right to cancel that has nothing to do with our own policy.

Under California Civil Code sections 1689.5 through 1689.14, an agreement for goods or services worth $25 or more that is made away from the seller’s normal place of business is a "home solicitation contract". You may cancel it for any reason up to midnight of the third business day after the date of the agreement, and we must refund everything you have paid within ten days of receiving your cancellation.

You do not need to use any particular form of words. Any written notice that makes clear you do not intend to be bound is effective. Send it to the address or email on this page.

Because we collect students from home, most sign-ups happen away from our office, so this right will usually apply. Where it does, the written agreement we give you will say so and will include a cancellation form, as the statute requires.

Students under 18

Most of our students are minors. A parent or legal guardian arranges the training, agrees the terms, and is responsible for payment. We will speak with a parent or guardian about scheduling, progress and any concern that arises during training.

What we do not promise

We prepare students thoroughly, but we cannot and do not guarantee that any student will pass the DMV drive test, pass on a particular attempt, or be issued a license. Those decisions are the DMV’s alone.

We also do not control DMV appointment availability, wait times, test routes or examiner judgment.

Vehicles and insurance

Training is conducted in a school vehicle that is maintained, insured and fitted with an instructor brake, as California requires of a licensed driving school. Students may use that vehicle for the DMV drive test where we have agreed to it in advance.

Limits on our liability

To the extent California law allows, our liability arising out of your use of this website is limited to the amount you have paid us, if anything, for the service in question. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Other people’s trademarks

Where we name a school, a DMV office, a public agency or a course provider, we do so to describe where we teach and what we refer to. Those names belong to their owners. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any school or agency named on this site.

Settling a disagreement, and your right to opt out

If something goes wrong we would rather hear about it first. Call us. Most problems are a scheduling mix-up or a misunderstanding about price, and both are quicker to fix on the phone than anywhere else.

If that does not resolve it, you and Life Safety Driving School each agree that the dispute will be settled by binding arbitration before a single neutral arbitrator in Ventura County, California, rather than in court. The arbitration is administered under the consumer arbitration rules of an established provider such as JAMS or the American Arbitration Association, and the arbitrator’s decision can be entered as a judgment.

This covers disagreements about this website and about the driving lessons themselves, including scheduling, pricing, refunds and the conduct of a lesson. It applies however you booked and however you paid us, whether that was online, over the phone, or in cash or by card in person.

If you have signed a written lesson agreement with us that sets out its own way of handling disputes, that agreement governs the lessons and this section covers everything else.

  • You keep the right to bring a claim in small claims court instead, and so do we.
  • You keep the right to seek public injunctive relief in court. Nothing here waives it.
  • We pay the arbitration filing and arbitrator fees above what it would have cost you to file in court, so arbitrating is not more expensive for you than suing.
  • Claims are brought individually. Neither of us brings a class action in arbitration.
  • Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
  • You can opt out. Write to us within 30 days of first using this site or booking a lesson, say you are opting out of arbitration, and we will confirm it. Opting out changes nothing else about how we treat you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Where a dispute is not arbitrated, including a small claims matter or a claim for public injunctive relief, it will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Ventura County, California.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
